 Who we are

Ady Dench

I’ve been doing triathlons for close on 20 years now having entered my first one, in my mid 30s, with a friend I used to row with. In that time, I’ve lost count of the number of races I’ve entered over the years and have competed in all triathlon distances through from sprint to Ironman distance. Highlights include IM 70.3/middle distance races at Wimbleball (5 times), Antwerp, Galway, Weymouth, Nottingham and Holkham, and full Ironman races in Zurich (twice), Vichy and Barcelona.

My strongest discipline is the bike, and this has allowed me to place well in races over the years. I’m also active in bike time trialling and have progressed to racing to a high standard on the national domestic scene. The hardest endurance thing I’ve ever done is Lands End to John O’Groats on the bike…….in 4 days! Just me and one of my training buddies raising money for Marie Curie, a charity close to my heart.

2019 saw me reach the milestone of 50 years on the planet. It also saw me have my strongest year of triathlon performance at races, culminating in a sub 10-hour Ironman at IM Barcelona. I also had high placings overall and AG wins in nearly all the domestic events I entered that year.

In 2016, my coach at the time (Matt at TCUK) had suggested I’d make a good coach. As a result, I undertook and qualified as a triathlon coach at the end of the 2016 season through the Ironman University. I subsequently worked for TCUK, for 4 years coaching athletes towards 70.3 and Ironman goals. I took a break from coaching through covid when my twin brother became seriously ill. I made a return to coaching last year, when a friend entered both the Outlaw distances in Nottingham. I really enjoyed getting back in to coaching, and after a discussion with Elliot, we decided to partner up with this new venture.

My triathlon journey started as a junior after swimming competitively for many years. I made regular appearances in the British Super series, admittedly with little success. This didn’t deter me, and with hard work I steadily progressed.

I picked up more interest and experience throughout my university studies where I graduated in 2017 with a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science. I applied the knowledge I gained to myself, which brought an Ironman 70.3 podium in my first year professional, succeeded by 3 victories the following year.

I raced professional from 2017-2022. This gave me the opportunity to work, train and learn from some of the best athletes and coaches in the business.

Continuing to be a regular appearance on podiums I was confident enough in my approach to provide others with support. I began to work with a select group of age group athletes towards their own goals. This has brought about numerous PB’s and first time World Championship qualifications.
